There are always times that we, Leeds United fans, tend to worry. Being 3-0 up against Stoke at home within the first 20 minutes, and still thinking, “One more goal and then we can relax.” Sounds ridiculous, right? But that’s the madness of being a Leeds fan. We stress, mainly because of all the torturous times we’ve had to endure, what we lovingly call ‘doing a Leeds.’ Thankfully, the end of the 24/25 season ended differently, as I grin into my coffee mug.

There were murmurs here and there about how the league outcome might drag to the last game of the season. I remember thinking that the top 3 in contention for promotion weren’t fully capitalising on slip ups. It seemed like nobody wanted to just steamroll to glory. So, I could understand why we thought promotion might only be confirmed at the bitter end of the season.
I call Sheffield United to the stand (giggle). Who would’ve thought it? Three L’s in a row. A gift from the footballing gods. A treat. A scrumptious steak alongside a cold beer, whilst toasting your feet by the fire. Sorry, I’m getting carried away now… Anyway, that crumbling made automatic promotion almost confirmed, as long as we kept our composure. And with that, we move on to Stoke and Bristol City at Elland Road.

After battering Stoke 5-0 before half-time, just brutal, is there any other way to describe it? We weren’t feeling sorry for them; we just carried on hammering them into the ground. Then came Bristol City, who looked like relegation fodder with a 4-0 spanking. It was just so good to be able to celebrate how good this team really is. When the pressure was lifted, they were sensational.
Remember when I said the “league outcome may go to the last game of the season”? Well, it did because silverware was on the line. But you know Leeds, we never do things the easy way, do we? Stress, anxiety, and all that jazz came right back into play. I wanted that league title so badly, more so because the last time we won it under Bielsa, we couldn’t really celebrate it on our terms due to that germ floating around. This time, it would be so special for the fans—and the team deserved it.

You don’t need me to remind you of the perfect ending at Plymouth: an injury-time goal, an eruption of joy, an absolute firecracker of a finish to what was an immense journey! We were champions and it was incredible to see. I don’t know about you, but I’ve relived that Solomon goal on YouTube so many times. The roar and sheer joy of the away fans down at Plymouth still give me goosebumps every time.
Back to the big time now! Let’s hope we get it right and show the world what we’re all about!
All the best, and MOT.
Leeds Loco.
