What in the world do we do with Nunez then? He’s in a team that scores goals for fun, or at least that’s what we assumed, with a whole bunch of talented players throughout the squad. To add to that all I’m seeing around the social media Universe is that the stats say he ‘should’ be hauling soon, or he has an xG of 17.6, but that’s not transferring to whats happening on the pitch. To put it into context he has scored a grand total of 42 points since GW 10, and with a price tag of £9 mil, that’s just not good enough.

Owning a Liverpool asset used to be fun, but now it feels like the time you were happily walking along the footpath without a care in the world, whistling along with the birds and then BAM! You stand in dog turd. I can already hear the voices in your head saying…….What if he hauls if I sell him? That question is probably why you wont achieve your FPL goals this season, whether its top 10, 50 or 100k, you aren’t being ruthless with players who continue to haunt your dreams!

If we look at Liverpools forthcoming fixtures they play, Brighton, Chelsea, Wolves, Everton and Newcastle, with only 2 of those games being at home. After they lost dismally to Brentford this week, it doesn’t look to be any easier for them moving forward into the new year. For me it looks like they are going through a transformation period, they need to make some changes to an ageing squad, you could almost say that the midfield needs a complete overhaul.

Here’s a list of players who are cheaper than Darwin Nunez, as well as out performing the Uruguayan. (exception of Martial and Nketiah who have only just returned to 1st team selection).
Toney £7.5 mil (100 points)
Mitrovic £7.1 mil (76 points)
Solanke £5.7 mil (60 points)
Mbeumo £5.8 mil (59 points)
Wilson £7.2 mil (55 points)
Martial £6.7 mil (29 points)
Nketiah £6.5 mil (26 points)

Looking at the names above they might not excite you, but its a fact that they are performing better than Nunez is right now and to be honest the money you save can be distributed elsewhere. Now its important to note that releasing him to the hounds, doesn’t mean the end for Darwin, it just means you are waiting for the right opportunity to bring him back int the squad. Ideally when he starts hitting the back of the net, but for now, set him free!
Thanks for reading and good luck in your quest towards FPL greatness!
